The Federal government has released its emergency planning guide for health care facilities.
The document was developed with assistance from ASPR’s Divisions of Health System Policy and Tactical Programs,  the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Healthcare and Public Health Sector Coordinating Council.  This document shows how government and private sector partners can work together to benefit our healthcare and public health communities.
It is similar to ones released in June 2013 regarding higher education, K-12 and Houses of Worship.  The SIGMA Handbook is cited as a resource exemplifying the threat management model.  The Handbook has been referenced in all four of these guides.
The more comprehensive “2014 Active Shooter Planning and Response in a Healthcare Setting” guide provides valuable tools for all healthcare locations, including academic institutions, hospitals, outpatient centers, and physician practices
